Ingredients for Hard Boiled Eggs

  • 4 pieces Large eggs Preferably older eggs for easier peeling
  • 1 quart Water Enough to cover the eggs in the pot
  • 1 bowl Ice water For rapid cooling after boiling

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients and equipment: a medium-sized pot, water, eggs, a slotted spoon, and a large bowl of ice water.

Cooking Eggs

  • Fill the pot with enough water to cover the eggs completely and place it on the stove over medium-high heat.
  • Bring the water to a rolling boil.
  • Using a slotted spoon, gently lower each egg into the boiling water to prevent cracking.
  • Reduce the heat to maintain a gentle boil and start your timer for 12-14 minutes.
  • Once time is up, immediately transfer the eggs to the ice water bath and let them sit for 5-10 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  • Once cooled, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface and peel. Rinse under cold water to remove any small shell bits.

Notes

Always use hot water to start boiling the eggs to ensure even cooking. Older eggs are easier to peel due to larger air cells.
