  • 450 g ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 60 ml soy sauce Can substitute with tamari for gluten-free version.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
  • 15 ml toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh or ground ginger
  • 0.5 teaspoon red pepper flakes Optional, adjust to taste.
  • Steamed white rice For serving.
  • Green onions, thinly sliced For garnish.
  • Sesame seeds For garnish.

  • Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring frequently, until it is fully browned and crumbled, about 4–6 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, stirring until fragrant.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, sesame oil, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly to combine all flavors.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and develops a glossy finish.
  • Spoon the beef mixture over steamed white rice. Garnish generously with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The dish can be frozen for up to 3 months. Reheat in a skillet over low heat or in the microwave.
