Main Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork sausage raw
- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 10 oz diced tomatoes and green chilies canned, well drained
- 2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cup biscuit baking mix
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or green onions for garnish
Cooking
Mix the dough. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Combine sausage, cream cheese, drained tomatoes, cheddar, baking mix, and seasonings until a thick dough forms.
Roll the balls. Shape the dough into 24 balls about 1 1/2 inches wide and place them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown and 160 degrees F in the center.
Cool and garnish. Rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with parsley or green onions.
Substitutions: Use pepper Jack for cheddar, or turkey sausage cooked to 165 degrees F.
Tips: Drain the tomatoes well so the dough is not sticky.
Storage: Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
