Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for best results.
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs Regular or panko breadcrumbs can be used.
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 egg egg Acts as a binder.
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.

For the Caramelized Onions

  • 3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced The more you caramelize them, the richer the flavor.
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter Can use more for richer flavor.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Seasoning

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and the cooked onions. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.

Cooking

  • Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a simple salad. Pour some of the extra juices from the meatloaf over the slices for enhanced flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Mix the meat just until combined to keep it tender.
