Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium turnips peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in cream, salt, and pepper. Stir in half of the cheddar and all of the Parmesan cheese until melted.
  • Layer the turnips: Arrange half of the sliced turnips in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over. Repeat with remaining turnips and sauce.
  • Top and bake: Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  • Serve: Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
