- 4 medium turnips peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Pour in cream, salt, and pepper. Stir in half of the cheddar and all of the Parmesan cheese until melted.
Layer the turnips: Arrange half of the sliced turnips in a greased baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over. Repeat with remaining turnips and sauce.
Top and bake: Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese over the top. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Serve: Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
