- 1 tbsp chili powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
Cooking
Gather. Measure all the spices into a small bowl.
Mix. Stir with a fork until evenly combined.
Season meat. Brown 1 lb ground meat, drain the fat, and stir in the full batch with 1/4 cup water. Simmer until the liquid reduces.
Store. Pour any unused mix into an airtight jar.
Substitutions: Leave out the red pepper flakes for a milder blend, or omit the salt and add it at the end.
Tips: One batch seasons 1 lb of meat. Double it to keep extra on hand.
Storage: Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for several months.
