  • 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts about 4 breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce divided
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Cooking

  • Place the chicken in the slow cooker and sprinkle with the onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Whisk 3/4 cup of the barbecue sauce with the chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Pour over the chicken and reserve the remaining 1/4 cup of sauce.
  • Cover and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours, until the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) and shreds easily.
  • Move the chicken to a cutting board and shred with two forks.
  • Return the chicken to the slow cooker, stir in the remaining 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, and let it sit on warm for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes
