Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth or water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot or skillet, cook chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving drippings in the pan.
  • Add chopped onion to the bacon drippings and sauté until softened (about 3–4 minutes).
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  • Add green beans and pour in chicken broth or water to just cover the beans.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45–60 minutes, or until tender.
  • Stir in the cooked bacon before serving.
