  • 2 cups sugar (divided) Use 1/2 cup for the syrup and 1 1/2 cups for coating.
  • 1 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries Ensure they are fresh for the best flavor.

  • Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in the fresh cranberries until they are well coated with the sugary syrup.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cranberries to a wire rack and let them dry for at least 1 hour.
  • Working in batches, roll the dried cranberries in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of sugar until they are fully coated.
  • Let the cranberries dry for another hour.

Notes

Store sugared cranberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. To enhance flavor, consider adding orange zest to the sugar coating.
