  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Add more for a spicier flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt to taste Adjust according to preference.

Preparation

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Stir in the flour to create a roux, cooking for about a minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the evaporated milk until smooth and thickened.

Cooking

  • Reduce the heat to low and add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted.
  • Mix in the chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Season with salt to taste.

Serving

  • Serve warm as a nacho cheese dip.

Notes

Make sure to whisk the sauce continuously while cooking to avoid lumps. For a spicy kick, add some diced jalapeños or hot sauce. Let it cool completely before storing in an airtight container. Can be reheated on the stove or in the microwave.
