  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Adjust spiciness as needed.
  • 1 cup chunky salsa Choose mild or spicy salsa based on preference.
  • 1/4-1/2 cup water Adjust water to achieve desired consistency.

Toppings

  • Buns for serving Use hamburger buns.
  • Shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomato
  • Diced avocado or guacamole
  • Sour cream

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Drain any grease that accumulates in the skillet.

Cooking

  • Add the taco seasoning and salsa to the meat mixture.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 5 more minutes until the mixture thickens and is heated through.
  • If needed, add up to 1/2 cup of water to reach your desired consistency.

Serving

  • Serve the mixture on hamburger buns.
  • Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, avocado, guacamole, or sour cream as desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat before serving. For a twist, turn Taco Sloppy Joes into a casserole by baking the meat mixture with cheese on top.
