For the Gravy

  • 2 cups beef broth For a flavorful base.
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce To enhance flavor.
  • 1 medium onion Finely chopped.
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour For thickening gravy.
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper To taste.
  • 1 cup drippings from cooked steak To enrich the gravy.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Tenderize the cube steak using a meat mallet until even in thickness.
  • Season both sides with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Let the seasoned steak rest for 30 minutes to enhance flavor.

Cooking

  • For the stovetop method, heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat, sear the steak until browned and cooked to your liking (20-30 minutes).
  • For the slow cooker method, place the seasoned steak in the cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Making the Gravy

  • In the same pan used for cooking the steak, sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir for about one minute to create a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Allow the gravy to thicken for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
