Tequila Sunrise Margarita

Ingredients
  

For the Grenadine

  • 1 ¼ cup pomegranate juice (or cranberry)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

For the Cocktail

  • 4 ounces Tequila (Blanco is preferred)
  • 3 ounces orange juice Use fresh juice for best flavor.
  • 2 ounces lime juice Use fresh juice for best flavor.
  • 2 ounces orange liqueur
  • 2 ounces Grenadine Pour slowly along the side of the glass.
  • 2 wedges orange For garnish.

For Optional Garnish

  • 1 straw straw or stirrer For easy sipping.

Instructions
 

Making the Grenadine

  • In a saucepan, mix the pomegranate juice and granulated sugar over low heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Let it cool before using.

Making the Cocktail

  • In a shaker, combine tequila, orange juice, lime juice, and orange liqueur.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake well.
  • Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice.
  • Slowly pour the Grenadine along the side of the glass so it settles at the bottom, creating a beautiful gradient.
  • Garnish with an orange wedge.

Notes

If you have any leftover mixed drink, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours, but it's best to enjoy it fresh. The Grenadine can be stored in a sealed bottle for later use. Experiment with different fruit juices to find your favorite combination. For a frozen version, blend the ingredients with ice until smooth.
