Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked.
  • Drain excess grease and return the beef to the pot.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.

Cooking

  • Reduce heat to low and let the chili simmer for at least an hour, or longer for deeper flavor.
  • If using beans, add them during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Serving

  • Serve hot, topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and chopped green onions.
