Ingredients
  

  • cups packed light brown sugar
  • cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cream Shortening and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the vegetable shortening and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in one egg until incorporated. Beat in the remaining egg along with water and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.
  • Scoop Dough: Drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes, or until the cookies are set.
