- 1½ cups packed light brown sugar
- ⅔ cup vegetable shortening
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cream Shortening and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the vegetable shortening and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in one egg until incorporated. Beat in the remaining egg along with water and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
