- 1 cup 226g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
- 1 cup 220g packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups 360g all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups 340g semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
Bake for 9–11 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
