Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 226g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1 cup 220g packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups 360g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups 340g semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually blend dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
