  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 medium lemon zest From 1 lemon
  • 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • ½ tsp lemon extract
  • 2-3 drops yellow food coloring Optional
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar For coating

Preparation

  • Place the white chocolate chips in a medium mixing bowl and set aside.
  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter along with the lemon zest.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and heat the mixture until just about to boil.
  • Pour the cream mixture through a fine-mesh sieve over the white chocolate chips.
  • Add the lemon extract and yellow food coloring if desired.
  • Stir until smooth and velvety.
  • Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Scoop out portions and roll into small balls.
  • Coat the truffles with powdered sugar.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.
  • Serve as a dessert or sweet treat.

Notes

Make sure to finely zest the lemon to release its flavor fully. Let the truffles sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving for a softer texture. If you want to mix things up, try adding different flavors, like vanilla or almond extract.
