Ingredients
  

Shrimp Preparation

  • 8 oz medium shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails removed)
  • 1 cup buttermilk Soak the shrimp in this for added flavor.

Coating and Cooking

  • 1 cup cornstarch Dredge the shrimp in this for a crispy texture.
  • 2 cups sunflower oil For frying the shrimp.

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 2 ½ Tbsp sriracha Adjust to spice preference.
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Soak the shrimp in buttermilk for about 30 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and sea salt, then set aside.

Cooking

  • Remove shrimp from buttermilk and dredge each in cornstarch, coating well.
  • Heat sunflower oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Carefully add shrimp to the hot oil in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  • Drain cooked shrimp on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  • Toss the hot shrimp in the prepared sauce until nicely coated.

Notes

Serve immediately for best texture. Pair with rice, salad, or steamed vegetables. Ensure shrimp are dry before dredging; avoid overcrowding the pan when frying.
