- 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce optional
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- ¼ cup water or beef broth for steaming broccoli
- Cooked white rice for serving
Prepare the Beef: Toss the thinly sliced flank steak with cornstarch and 1 tablespoon soy sauce in a bowl. Let sit for 10 minutes to tenderize.
Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), brown sugar, garlic, and ginger.
Cook the Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and ¼ cup water or broth. Cover and steam for 2–3 minutes until just tender. Remove and set aside.
Cook the Beef: Add the remaining oil and beef to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned.
Combine and Finish: Return broccoli to the pan, pour in the sauce, and stir everything together. Cook for 2–3 more minutes until heated through and coated in sauce.
Serve: Serve hot over cooked white rice.
