Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Blanch the fresh green beans in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Transfer the beans to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  • Drain the beans and pat them dry.

Cooking Bacon

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the bacon strips until crispy, about 6 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Remove the bacon and place it on paper towels to absorb excess fat.

Combining Ingredients

  • In the same skillet, melt the butter and add brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Stir until the mixture is well combined and heated through.
  • Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and coat them well with the sauce.
  • Crumble the crispy bacon and mix it in with the green beans.

Baking

  • Transfer the green beans to an oven-safe dish.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Bake for about 30 minutes to achieve a crispy texture.
  • Check for doneness; beans should be tender but colorful.
  • Add additional crumbled bacon on top before serving for extra flavor.

Notes

For vegetarian options, omit bacon or use plant-based bacon. You can also substitute brown sugar with agave nectar or honey for variations.
