  • 1 lb medium-sized shrimp, peeled and deveined Fresh or thawed frozen shrimp
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh is recommended
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter For sautéing the garlic
  • 1 cup heavy cream For a rich and creamy texture
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded Adds creaminess
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated Divided for mixing and topping
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs For a crispy topping
  • Salt to taste Season according to preference
  • Pepper to taste Freshly ground is best

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the shrimp, seasoning with salt and pepper, cook just until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Combine the cooked shrimp with heavy cream, mozzarella, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • Top with a blend of panko breadcrumbs and the remaining Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until the gratin is bubbly and golden.

Notes

To ensure shrimp are perfectly cooked, do not overcook them; they should be pink and just firm to the touch. Pair with a crisp salad or steamed vegetables to balance the richness of the gratin.
