Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 450 g lean ground beef Use high-quality beef for better flavor.
  • 30 g butter For cooking the vegetables.
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 230 g brown mushrooms, minced
  • 30 g ketchup
  • 240 ml beef broth
  • 225 g provolone cheese, chopped or shredded You can substitute with cheddar if preferred.
  • 6 pieces brioche hamburger buns For serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Brown the lean ground beef in a hot pan. Once browned, remove and set aside.
  • In the same pan, melt butter and sauté diced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms until browned.
  • Mix beef broth, cornstarch, ketchup, salt, and pepper in a bowl; pour into sautéed veggies and simmer until thickened.
  • Return the beef to the pan and mix well.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in provolone cheese until melted.
  • Butter and toast brioche buns separately until golden.
  • Fill toasted buns with the cheesy beef mixture and serve warm.

Notes

Serve these sloppy joes warm, stuffed into the buttery toasted brioche buns. They are excellent on their own, paired with fries, salad, or pickles for added crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat the filling on the stove or in the microwave, and toast fresh buns when ready to serve again.
